Congratulations!
On behalf of the international community, we are thrilled that you have been accepted to Brown. Upon your arrival to College Hill, you will find a ready welcome from many members of the Brown community, including the members of the International Mentoring Program (IMP). This is a student-run program specifically geared towards welcoming and supporting international freshmen.
Plan to move in to your room on Thursday, August 28th in order to make the most of the activities we have planned for you, which officially start on Friday, August 29th. The IMP offers several programs for you and your parents during International Orientation. As a part of this program, each of you will be assigned an international mentor. These mentors are fellow Brown students who will use their personal experiences to help you adjust to the environment and help you with the cultural transition at Brown. In addition, they will be able to assist you with questions regarding US visa procedures (I-20s, registration, etc.). IMP does not end after classes start though; it is active throughout the year organizing both social and academic programs to further ease your transition.
Please fill out our online registration form as soon as you can in order to help us prepare for your arrival in the fall.
Finally, if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us at IMP@brown.edu or Kisa_Takesue@brown.edu.
Looking forward to seeing you on campus in the fall!
