ADOCH Frequently Asked Questions
For Students How is ADOCH different from Tours and Overnight Visits? ADOCH is a two-day program designed specifically for students who were admitted during regular decision that allows them to explore the various opportunities unique to Brown. While tours give students an overview of the campus, ADOCH gives students a chance to reside in a freshmen dorm! Students can stay at a freshmen dorm during Overnight Visits, but these visits are designed for prospective students only. During ADOCH, we have special Classes, Panels, an Activities Fair, an Academic Fair, and Open Houses, all of which provide a more complete look at Brown. Current students often mention that their experiences at ADOCH were critical to their college decisions. Is there any registration or reservation required beforehand? Are there registration fees? Registration is required in advance by 12 pm on Sunday, April 12, 2009. Instructions on how to register are included in the acceptance packet. Students must complete an online registration form and also fax two (2) liability forms with signatures (included in the acceptance packet) to the Admissions Office (401-863-9300). All of these forms must be received prior to the student's arrival at ADOCH. Are there registration fees? There is no registration fee for the event. Can we complete the liability forms online? We must receive faxed copies of the liability forms completed with the appropriate signatures. If you have misplaced these forms, email adochquestions@gmail.com and we will email you new copies for you to print, sign, and fax. How will I know if the liability forms I faxed have been received? We will contact anyone with outstanding registration requirements prior to ADOCH. If we do not contact you, your forms have been received. The Admissions Office receives a large number of inquiries each year, and unfortunately, individual requests cannot be processed. How does the ADOCH train work? Do I need to purchase a ticket in advance? You must purchase your own ticket in advance for the A-Train (www.amtrak.com). There is no special code or designation you need to enter -- simply buy a ticket for Train 86 (April 21, 2009), and when you board, you will be directed to the ADOCH cars at the back of the train. Look for students in bright ADOCH volunteer shirts who will help you find the car. I am staying with a current Brown student that I know. Do I still have to register? Yes, in order to attend ADOCH events, all students must register prior to April 12, 2009. On the registration form, you may request a host you already know, and on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, you must come to Student Registration to pick up your ADOCH registration packet. If I'm not requesting a current student I know, when will I receive my host information? You will be paired with a host when you arrive on campus. Where is on-campus registration? On-campus registration will take place in Leung Gallery in Faunce House, 75 Waterman Street. What will I need to bring? Students are encouraged to bring a sleeping bag, personal toiletries, spending money, and warm clothing for late-night activities. No special attire is necessary - just bring comfortable clothing What is the ADOCH schedule of events? What if I need to leave early? A tentative schedule of events is included in your acceptance packet. Upon your arrival at ADOCH, you will be provided with a more detailed schedule. We hope that you can stay for the entirety of ADOCH, but you may leave early at any point if necessary. Will I be able to meet with professors while at ADOCH? You will be able to attend special ADOCH classes as well as regular Brown classes in a wide variety of academic departments. If you are interested in meeting with a specific professor, it is up to you to schedule a meeting with them in advance.
