The College Hill Independent is an award-winning weekly publication written and edited by Brown and RISD students.

Unlike daily publications, a given issue of the Indy is available for one full week, meaning greater exposure for your ads. And it’s online at theindy.org.

The second-largest publication at Brown, the Indy is very different from the Brown Daily Herald in tone and content—our articles are longer, edgier, and more in-depth, and we cover topics of interest to both students and non-students.

We’re also the second-largest weekly publication in Providence, and in the state of Rhode Island.

Circulation: 2,000 copies per week, with a readership of approximately 3,000—an energetic, highly involved readership with disposable income.

Distribution: Comprehensive coverage of the Brown University campus, many locations on the East Side (primarily Thayer, Wickenden and RISD), plus selected locations downtown and on the West Side of Providence.

1/4 page: 5″ x 7″ $85
1/2 page: 10″ x 7″ $150
Full page: 10″ x 15″ $300

Advertising Policies:

1. Payment: The College Hill Independent accepts cash or check (made payable to ‘Brown University’). Payment must be received within 15 business days of publication. There is a 10% discount on all prepaid ads.
2. Deadlines: Camera-ready advertisements must be received two days in advance of publication date. If submitting ads electronically, we recommend at least 250 dpi (dots per inch) for ideal print quality. For ads that require production work, we require the necessary images and information five days in advance of publication date, as well as an additional $20 design fee.
3. Placement: While we cannot guarantee specific ad placement, we will do our best to accommodate any placement preferences.
4. Multiple Insertions: If you are interested in placing multiple ads over the course of a semester, please contact us about available discounts.
