Hansel and Gretel
November 10th, 2007: BOP performed their English adaptation of Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel as a part of the Providence Atheneaum Library children’s program. Directed by Jordan Elkind (’08), this enchanting children’s opera was met with cries of delight and a mob-like attack of the Candy House. Despite the efforts of the evil witch (Emily Dunne, RISD ’08), the lost Hansel (Masumi Hayashi-Smith, ’10) and Gretel (Sonya Nayek, ’09) made their way home to their distraught parents (Nadine Pardee, ’10; Eng Siang Teo, ’09) with the protection of magical fairies (Alexandra Bachorik, ’10; Andrea Matthews, ’11).
