| About BEAN
The Brown Environmental Action Network (BEAN) regrouped in the fall of 2002 after a semester hiatus. BEAN is a loose student-run group at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. BEAN focuses on environmental activism, advocacy, and awareness campaigns within the Brown and greater Providence communities. In addition to other initiatives, BEAN sponsors an annual on-campus Earth Day Festival and organized the 2003 Northeast Environmental Conference. (See photos from past BEAN events.) BEAN has quite the legacy to live up to. Brown University is the birthplace of the student-founded Sierra Student Coalition (SSC), now an influential group operating on college campuses around the country. BEAN also works with the Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC) and the Ivy League Environmental Coalition (ILEC). |

You can still read old BEAN weekly newsletters on the web, though they are currently sent by e-mail only. Last updated: 10/13/2005. Contact us at: BEAN@brown.edu. Daily Jolt taglines: green is the new black. (10/2) Because an earth is a terrible thing to waste. (4/24) Make sustainable-lifestyle-choices, not war. (3/20) - Stop Boise Cascade's attack on old growth forests. You know you want to. (3/13) - You don't have to be earthy to be earth-friendly. (3/6) - Saving the world. (We've got more down-to-earth goals, too.) (2/20) - Love is in the air. So are carcinogens. (2/13) - Sustainability is chic. (2/6) Unleash your inner environmentalist. |
