The movie is named 5 Centimeters Per Second for the speed at which cherry blossom petals fall, petals being a metaphorical representation of humans, reminiscent of the slowness of life and how people often start together but slowly drift into their separate ways.
Voices of a Distant Star
An earlier movie by Makoto Shinkai, a story of the cell phone of a high school girl in space and the speed of light.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
“Goodbye, Despair Teacher”. A black high school comedy that covers issues all of us deal with every day (see image). A kind of Azumanga Daioh on absinthe.
Perfect Blue
A psychological murder mystery from Satoshi Kon. Definitely one to attend for those who enjoyed Paprika.
