About Us

Posted by Adam White on March 15th, 2006

Welcome to the homepage of the Brown Anime Society, Brown University’s Japanese Animation club. We are a group of people sharing a common interest in Japanese anime and the corresponding popular culture, and our members are interested in anime as entertainment, art, and even academically. Our club is dedicated to exposing the Brown community to the best and most interesting Anime we can find, new or old.

To that end, we hold regular showings every Saturday night during the academic year. Our showings this semester (Spring 2006) take place from 7:00-9:00 PM, in room 190 of Barus and Holley (A campus map with Barus and Holley highlighted is HERE:)

Our showings are free and open to the public, so please tell all your friends to come! If you are new to anime, don’t worry, we try to show at least one series that is good for newcomers every semester. This semester we are showing Cowboy Bebop from 7 to 8PM, often mentioned as one of the best “beginner anime.” It’s an extraordinarily well-done and beautiful series, come check it out if you are interested.
It is not too late to join the club or come to our showings! Although we’re already almost halfway through the semester, we have two anime marathons this spring, for which no prior experience is necessary!

Please check the Main Page for announcements of special showings and weekly updates! Also, if you have the time, browse through our club history and our club constitution.

We hope to see you at a showing!
