April 26, 2011
Since 2008, we, the Brothers of the Beta Rho chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, have worked tirelessly on our "Campaign Creating an Environment for a Cure" to raise money for the Pediatric Oncology Center at Hasbro Children's Hospital here in Providence, RI. On April 26th, we will be holding our fourth annual silent auction and raffle which is supported by donations from local businesses. In addition to the silent auction and raffle, our campaign's success relies heavily on our generous private donors. The $55,000 raised over the past three years has gone a long way to enhance the lives of the pediatric patients and to help ease their experiences. In 2009, the funds raised directly purchased toys, videogames, furniture and child-friendly medical equipment for the newly built Pediatric Oncology Wing. In 2010, we were able to raise enough money to fund counseling and education seminars for children undergoing treatment and their parents for a full year. This year, we are hoping to push the envelope even further as we team up with the Palliative Care team at the Children's Hospital in hopes of raising $15,000 to fund a Tai Chi pilot program to help reduce stress and promote confidence for the children undergoing treatment.
